The Brasil Selvagem Institute was founded in 2005 as a joint initiative of a group of friends, who had already been working for many years in the production of documentaries on Biodiversity, Culture and Native Communities. With the premise that: "It is necessary to know to love, and love to conserve" we created this NGO whose main objective is education as a first step towards the sustainable management of natural resources and the conservation of our wonderful Planet.
Since the foundation of the Institute 20 years ago, we have been working with the production company Trotamundos films& docs, created in 1992 and dedicated to the production of documentaries for the last three decades.
COP8 and MOP3 were our first great challenge as an Institution. We were in charge of the image of The Natural Brazil during these events organized by the UN in the city of Curitiba, state of Paraná and we also gave a lecture on "The use of mass media for the creation of a collective environmental awareness"
We were the creators of the Brasil Selvagem Project, approved by ANCINE with an initial budget of R$ 4,020,535, just over 2.2 million dollars at the time. A cycle of documentaries on 47 Brazilian National Parks, 2 Marine Biological Reserves and 4 Indigenous Reserves. A project that took us 4 years of work.
During the last years, concerned about the imbalance of the Sheldon Spectrum and the Ecosystems in general, we have been dedicated to the development of The Blue Planet Project, which is currently in the process of raising funds for its realization.
Since 2024, we are working in the Águas e Vidas Project. A scientific expedition over the islands and the Brazilian extensive coastline to study the water condition, the plastic and chemical pollution, the changes in the marine currents and other issues that influences the life of the population directly related with the sea and the most important rivers. We´ll also go inside the Amazonian, sailing in the Amazon river from its mouth to Sao Gabriel da Cachoeira, in the Negro River.
